Garnering a subdued nature, the English Setter craves affection, but do not let that deter you from being firm. This breed needs a master with a head of the pack mentality to ensure proper training. If laxed, the English Setter can become willful and test the boundaries set in place for him or her. With that proper structure, they serve well in the rolls of watchdogs, digger's or jumper's.Being that there are 2 type to this breed, show and field, the field types are usually larger needing more excersice. Be careful not to overfeed due to easy weight gain.
