Looking rough with his scruff, the Border Terrier's bark is truly worse then his bite. He will bark til the cows come home, but otherwise, not aggressive. Well mannered, this breed can be lively, fun and with the insensitivity to pain, go on for hours. Not very active indoors, this breed does well in apartment settings. Bred to hunt, with the stamina of a horse, this breed needs activity. There are some health issues to be aware of, most due to heredity. But don't let that be a factor due to the fact that they live up to 15 years or more. Visit your groomer at least twice a year and brush his coat at least once a week.
